A Musical Mashup of Cultures

Planning Our Own Wedding in 3 Months, From Overseas
When Eric and I decided to tie the knot, we knew we wanted our wedding to be a reflection of our unique love story—a story that spanned continents, cultures, and countless melodies. Planning a wedding in just three months from overseas was no small feat, but the result was a day that was unmistakably us: quirky, irreverent, and oh-so-musical.

How It All Began

Our story began in Singapore, where we were introduced at a gig and asked to sing together (it was a little High School Musical moment lol). Little did we know, this duet would be the start of a lifelong partnership. Fast forward to our wedding day in Manila, and music was still at the heart of our celebration.

A Blend of Cultures

Eric, with his Melbourne upbringing and Cambodian-Anglo Australian heritage, and me, a Manila native with a passion for singing, wanted our wedding to be a true blend of our backgrounds. From eucalyptus leaves and traditional Khmer scarves & patterns, to Taho, Sorbetes, and Turon, every detail was a nod to our roots.

Personal Touches

Every element of our wedding was infused with personal touches. My dress and pantsuit gown, designed to showcase my tattoos, were as unique as our love story. See my hairpiece and the jewellery crafted around personal details. Eric’s birthstone was my “something blue”, while his sister wore mine, tying our families together.

A Musical Affair

Music was the thread that wove our day together. From our self-recorded processional tracks to the Disney medley we’d often sing in our living room, every note was a reflection of our journey. And who could forget our Flower Men? Imagine grown men in suits, sprinkling petals with flair to the violin track from Shrek.

As the ceremony transitioned to the reception, I swapped my dress for a power suit, ready to kick off our reception with a live performance. With Eric on the electric guitar, we waltzed into the reception singing a song about Mexican food, because why not! Later in the night, we became our own wedding band, serenading our guests with songs that held special meaning for us. Our families swapped the dances for songs too.

A Night to Remember

The reception was styled after a musical concert, complete with custom drinks, merch designed by us, and even indoor fireworks. We See the prenup shoot fashioned after album covers and the wedding day photos that captured every magical moment.

A Song Just for Us

Perhaps the most special moment was when we performed “Next Step,” a song we wrote for the occasion. It was our musical rendition of our love story, and a testament to the journey we’d embarked on together.

In the end, our wedding was more than just a ceremony. It was a celebration of our love, our cultures, and the music that brought us together. And as we look forward to our “Next Step Tour” in Australia, we’re reminded of the magic that happens when two people come together in harmony.
